“That’s all I got so far…” “Good start.” Whoa! Searchlight Pictures has revealed a first look teaser trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming film A Complete Unknown, focusing on the early days of musician Bob Dylan’s life. This just finished shooting earlier in the year, and is already being prepared for a December 2024 release. Perhaps they’re hoping this will make a splash during the awards season? At the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, a young Bob Dylan shakes up his act on the folk music scene by going electric and siring rock as the voice of a generation – defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th century music. Timothée Chalamet stars as a young Bob Dylan in this film written & directed by James Mangold, coming off of his work on the Indiana Jones movie. It also stars Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, & Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie. So far sounds great! This looks like it will be damn good.

Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, A Complete Unknown 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s (Timothée Chalamet) meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. A Complete Unknown is directed by acclaimed American writer / producer / filmmaker James Mangold, also director of Heavy, Cop Land, Girl Interrupted, Kate & Leopold, Identity, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Knight and Day, The Wolverine, Logan, Ford v Ferrari, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny previously. The screenplay is written by Jay Cocks and James Mangold. Produced by Fred Berger, Bob Bookman, Nina Byrne, Timothée Chalamet, Alan Gasmer, Alex Heineman, Peter Jaysen, James Mangold, and Jeff Rosen.
