It looks like Netflix has a couple of up-and-coming actresses joining Ben Affleck and Matt Damon on their “RIP” cast list. Deadline reports that Teyana Taylor and Sasha Calle are the latest to join the ensemble of the upcoming crime pic. Netflix bought Artist Equity‘s package for “RIP” in June, which sees Affleck and Damon co-star for the first time since last year’s “Air.” But “RIP” isn’t quite the “dad cinema” that movie is.

“RIP” follows a group of Miami Cops who discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house and decide to keep it for themselves. But trust quickly frays once outside forces learn about how much money the group got away with, and every alliance is soon called into question. “Copshop” writer-director Joe Carnahan also writes and direct this thriller, with Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran executive producing through Artists Equity. Expect “RIP” to hit Netflix sometime next year.
A crime pic with Affleck and Damon is a great vehicle for emergent Taylor and Calle. Both actresses had breakout performances last year in “A Thousand And One” and “The Flash” respectively. Taylor’s other recent work includes “The Book Of Clarence” and Hulu‘s “White Men Can’t Jump” remake from last year. She also stars in PT Anderson‘s next pic with Leonardo DiCpario. As for Calle, she starred in two buzzy festival pics this year: “In The Summers,” which bowed at Sundance, and “On Swift Horses,” which just had its world premiere at TIFF last month.
As for Artists Equity, Affleck and Damon’s company keeps chugging along with more and more new projects. Along with “RIP,” other future releases for the banner include “The Accountant 2,” “Animals,” and “Unstoppable,” among others. “The Instigators,” starring Damon and Ben’s younger brother Casey Affleck, was Artist Equity’s last release, which hit theaters and Apple TV+ in August.
So who else might join “RIP” before Carnahan starts shooting? It’s anyone’s guess, but Carnahan has two other films to complete before starting work on this one: “Shadow Force” and “Not Without Hope,” both (you guessed it) action thrillers.
