The Boys fan base is nervous about the upcoming spin-off series, Vought Rising, but few are more scared than the show’s co-lead, Aya Cash, who’s concerned the show won’t live up to her expectations after she read some incredible scripts. Unlike other superhero franchises which try to cash in with endless, unnecessary spin-offs (not you Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe; you don’t count, you’re special), Prime Video’s The Boys has found tremendous success with its first spin-off show, Gen V. The newest project is hoping for the proverbial lightning to strike twice, as Vought Rising takes audiences back to the creation of the malevolent superhero company.
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Cash shared her concerns about the new show. Cash will reprise her role as Clara Vought, a.k.a. Stormfront (the literal Nazi), alongside Jensen Ackles’ fan favorite character, Soldier Boy. The actress revealed that she isn’t nervous about the quality of the storytelling. But, she was reportedly so impressed with the first scripts, that she’s now worried about how they will translate to the small screen. The actress exclaimed:
“I was over the moon! I’ve seen two scripts which are incredible – the whole thing is very, very exciting. I’m terrified because it’s already so good I can’t imagine it’ll live up to expectations when I get to set, whenever that is.”
Aya Cash currently stars in The Franchise, a new HBO comedy series which takes a hilarious look behind the scenes of the superhero movie industry. The show’s creators, Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, and Armando Iannucci, had to be very careful about the casting process. Satirizing the superhero industry will undoubtedly burn some bridges for everyone involved, so it’s promising (and very on-brand) to see that the producers of The Boys are still embracing Cash, who played one of the most memorable villains in the core show’s second seasons.
The Boys Universe Continues to Grow
Vought Rising is the latest in a growing line-up of spin-offs from The Boys universe. The new prequel show is yet to begin production, as it appears the final scripts are still being developed. While fans wait for Vought Rising, they have two other great shows to devour in the meantime. First and foremost, there is the final season of The Boys on the way. The fifth season will bring Billy Butcher’s fight against “‘Omelander” to a dramatic head. Little is known about the show’s final season, although the cast members have weighed in with what they want to see. Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight in the show, wants to see her character finally get justice against The Deep (Chace Crawford).

The Boys universe will be expanding with a new spin-off, which will see the return of a pair of fan favorites.
The second season of Gen V is also currently in production. The show’s sophomore season was postponed following the death of Chance Perdomo earlier this year. To honor the late actor, the series will write his death into the second season, rather than recast the role. Additionally, another brand-new spin-off is also in the works (although it has been for some time). The Boys: Mexico will explore the superhero crisis from an international perspective. The show is still in active development, but hasn’t had any major updates for a while.
