The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Bempu is a tricky Scrub with several hiding spots to locate in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. In line with the “Looking for Bempu” quest, you’ll need to take the Scrub’s hints in stride to find exactly where they’re hiding. Winning the game of hide-and-seek will earn you a handy new accessory, along with a well-deserved apology to Buzzu.

If you know your way around Faron, then you might be able to guess where Bempu is hidden. However, smarts alone won’t get you through the game. You’ll need to use one of Zelda’s most useful Echoes in your efforts to win fair and square.

Prerequisite Quests & Bosses

Zelda starts the Looking For Bempu Side Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

According to NintendoLife, you can take on the “Looking For Bempu” side quest following the main story quest, “A Rift in the Faron Wetlands.” This involves getting through the Stilled Faron Wetlands, completing the Faron Temple dungeon, and defeating Echoes of Wisdom‘s Gohma. If you’ve made it this far, head to Scrubton to meet with two Deku Scrubs hanging out by the ruins and talk to the one with a speech bubble that says, Friendly warning!

This is where you’ll meet Bempu, who warns you to stay away from Buzzu, the Scrub to the right. Bempu claims Buzzu is the most annoying Scrub in the world, and this causes an argument between the two. To settle the score, Bempu proposes a game of hide-and-seek, promising to lay off if Buzzu wins. You’ll be recruited as Buzzu’s teammate in the game that ensues, during which you’re given hints to find each of Bempu’s hiding spots.

How To Find All Four Hiding Spots

During the game of hide-and-seek, Bempu will hide in four different locations. The Scrub offers friendly hints for you to find each hiding spot, but they can be tricky to decode if you’re unfamiliar with Faron’s landmarks. We’ve outlined Bempu’s hints, locations, and how to find the elusive Scrub below. Follow along with Trophygamers on YouTube for a closer look at the path ahead.

The Trendiest Shop In Town

Bempu’s first hint promises you’ll find them near the trendiest shop in town. This is Scrubton’s Smoothie Shop, of course. You’ll spot the Scrub hiding in front of the shop on the east side of town, though you’ll need to use Zelda’s Bind Echo to pull them up from the ground.

A Lake That’s A Symbol Of Love

Bempu Hiding Spot 2 at the heart-shaped lake in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Bempu’s next hint refers to a lake that’s a symbol of love. This may seem poetic, but the Scrub’s hiding spot is actually quite literal. If you open up your map of Faron, you’ll see a heart-shaped lake in the bottom-left; this is your destination.

It’s a somewhat lengthy trek to get there from the Smoothie Shop, not to mention chock-full of enemies, so it’s best to
warp
there.

When you reach the lake, head over to the area’s top-left corner to find Bempu. You’ll need to use the Bind Echo again to pull them up. From there, Bempu will give you an even tougher hint to work with.

Between Four Stone Siblings

Next, Bempu will tell you to find them between the four stone siblings. Warp back to Scrubton, then head to the Faron Wetlands in the top-right corner of your map. You’ll find a double staircase lined with glowing mushrooms and Scrub statues in each of its four corners, and Bempu hiding right in the center. Pull them up with Bind to get your final hint.

A Home That Used To Be Covered In Thorns

Bempu’s final hiding spot is near a home that used to be covered in thorns. Though the Scrub’s hint is rather vague, you can find them easily enough if you warp to the bottom-right area of the Faron Wetlands. Immediately to the right, you’ll see some ruins with large leaves strewn across the stone floor. Bempu is hiding just off the path leading to the foundation. Use Bind to pull them up one last time.

When you find Bempu’s last hiding spot, the Scrub will admit they’ve actually been jealous of Buzzu, who’s a master at making smoothies and cotton candy. Following Bempu’s apology — and Buzzu’s rebuttal — you’ll receive Fairy Fragrance as a reward. This upgrade to the must-have Fairy Flower accessory makes fairies appear more often when cutting grass or other plants. Use it to find and catch fairies with ease on your travels in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
