Thirty firefighters managed to contain the property. The cause is currently unknown.
On Monday, Melbourne reporter Andrew McCormack spoke about the fire.
“Emergency Services were called to this Fergus Court home in Sydenham at around 9.30pm last night,” McCormack said.
“Around 30 firefighters arrived on scene. Three young children were inside the house.
“I understand those three children all under the age of five – so incredibly young.”
All three of the children are in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
“Also, yet to be determined, is if the parents of the children were actually home at the time. So those investigations continue this morning,” McCormack said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
