A baby’s reaction to Alexa’s Santa voice has left the internet teary-eyed, amassing tens of thousands of views on TikTok.
Chloe Robertson (@chloerobertson44), 28, from South Wales, in the U.K., shared a video of her extremely excited 15-month-old daughter, Polly, reacting with pure delight when her mom asked Alexa how many days were left until Christmas, and Santa left a message. The video has garnered 102,600 likes and 584,300 views on TikTok.
“I first asked Alexa how many days there were until Christmas to update our wooden countdown at home, and she pulled the shocked face, but I actually thought it was just a cute little one-off and didn’t think much else of it,” Robertson told Newsweek.
“My mum looked after her, and when I collected her, my mum asked me if I’d seen her reaction to Santa’s voice on Alexa. I then thought I’ve got to film this as it was so funny. I posted the first video to TikTok for her big cousins to see, and people were commenting asking for more, so I took another video the next day—and that is the one that has just absolutely blown up and has got so much attention.”
In the now-viral video, Robertson asks the Alexa speaker how many sleeps are left until Christmas. After Alexa responds, Santa’s voice chimes in with an update.
“The elves and I have been singing lots of Christmas carols today,” he says.
Polly’s jaw drops in shock, and her pacifier falls out of her mouth in a moment of pure festive joy.
Polly’s love for Christmas runs deep, which Robertson attributes to her daughter’s journey. Polly was born a month early and spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where one of the units hosted a Christmas party for NICU graduates. Polly met Santa for the first time at the event.
“There was another girl in the queue in front of us to see him who was crying uncontrollably at the sight of Santa. Santa handed a present to the other girl, and Polly actually reached out to take the present and said ‘ta,’ as in thank you—as if the gift was for her!
“She’s seen Santa twice more—once at a party with her playgroup and again at a breakfast with Santa event. Both times, she ran to Santa with open arms to give him a cuddle, and each time the Santas have commented that they can’t believe a child so young is so excited to see him,” Robertson shared.
Polly’s festive enthusiasm started early—Robertson even sang Christmas songs during her C-section in September.
To celebrate the holiday season this year, the family has been doing festive crafts and recently attended a light show where Polly couldn’t contain her excitement.
“She spent most of the 90-minute light walk squealing and saying ‘wow!'” Robertson added.
TikTok users were touched by Polly’s adorable reaction.
“Now that’s what Christmas is about. That jaw drop is the cutest. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, little one,” commented one viewer.
“Omg her little face,” said another.
“I miss my son being little so much. That excitement is precious,” added another.
“That little face, what Christmas is all about,” wrote Suze.
