A serious crash is causing traffic chaos in East Melbourne with motorists and commuters urged to avoid the area.
There are major delays after the collision at the intersection of Victoria Pde and Nicholson St about 7.30am on Friday.
It is unclear at this stage how many cars were involved and the extent of injuries, but a blue wagon is crumpled at the scene with serious damage to its bonnet.

All westbound lanes of Victoria Pde are closed between Nicholson St and Spring St and all northbound lanes of Nicholson St are closed between Albert St and Victoria Pde.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use Albert St, Exhibition St, Rathdowne St or Wellington Pde to get around the closure.
Major delays are likely to continue through Friday’s morning peak.
Tram services are not operating in the area with Route 86, 96 and 30 all impacted.
