The name Tyler Perry brings to mind a number of things. Typically, when you see his name, it’s attached to a project that is either a comedy or a salacious, soapy drama. But for his next film project, “The Six Triple Eight,” he’s tackling a World War II epic.

As seen in the trailer for “The Six Triple Eight,” the film tells the unbelievable true story of the only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas during WWII, and they’re tasked with mail delivery. The Six Triple Eight unit delivers the mail and raises the morale of the soldiers on the front lines. As mentioned above, this is a very different Tyler Perry movie.
The cast includes Kerry Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jeanté Godlock, Jay Reeves, Jeffery Johnson, Baadja-Lyne Odums, Donna Biscoe, Gregg Sulkin, Scott Daniel Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey. The film is written and directed by Tyler Perry.
