Valero recently reported its second-quarter earnings, highlighting strong financial results. The company’s refineries operated well, a testament to its employees’ hard work and focus on safety and reliability. Their U.S. wholesale system also remained strong, with sales exceeding one million barrels per day. Additionally, Valero’s renewable diesel and ethanol business segments made positive contributions to their second-quarter results.
Looking ahead, Valero’s growth projects are advancing as planned. The Diamond Green Diesel (DGD) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project at Valero’s Port Arthur, Texas refinery is on track to be operational in the fourth quarter. Once completed, DGD will become one of the world’s largest producers of SAF, demonstrating Valero’s innovation and leadership in low-carbon fuels.
In addition to business initiatives, this summer Valero helped launch the new “Valero Young Scientist” education program with the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. The program aims to inspire local San Antonio students to pursue STEM careers and become the next generation of scientists. Through an immersive four-week program, students collaborated with researchers and teachers in hands-on laboratory experiments. This is one example of how Valero supports enriching educational experiences for students.
For more than 25 years, Valero has also hosted an internship program at locations nationwide, including its headquarters in San Antonio. This program serves as the primary recruiting vehicle for the workforce, providing interns with valuable hands-on, engaging work experiences and an introduction to Valero’s culture. This summer, Valero welcomed more than 250 interns, 91 based in San Antonio, representing over 50 colleges and universities, whose work contributed to Valero’s business this summer. These interns’ majors range from engineering to accounting and finance, law, marketing, and management information systems.
Valero is committed to being a good neighbor, building a better tomorrow for its business and communities.
