The two-part special follows Investigation Discovery’s docuseries and its 2024 follow-up, Natalia Speaks, which seemingly brought a happy ending to Grace’s story.
The Ukraine-born American woman introduced her story in the Investigation Discovery docuseries, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, which drew more than 10 million viewers when it premiered in 2023. Born with a rare dwarfism condition, Grace was adopted — then abandoned two years later — by Kristine and Michael Barnett, who claimed that she lied about her age. (A DNA test confirmed she was born in 2003.) Grace was then taken in by Bishop Antwon Mans and his wife Cynthia, who then revealed in a shocking twist ending to the series.

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace and Natalia Speaks: Episodes, Spoilers
Released in 2023, the first season of The Curious Case of Natalia Grace captivated audiences with the story of Natalia Grace, a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism. Everything appeared normal in their lives until her adoptive parents, Kristine and Michael Barnett, accused Grace of being a functioning adult masquerading as a kid to terrorize them. And while court records and DNA testing confirmed that Grace was born in 2003, the Barnetts — and some viewers — remained unconvinced. (Read more about the revelations here.)
While The Curious Case of Natalia Grace season one focused primarily on the Barnetts, the second season, subtitled Natalia Speaks, featured an “extensive, emotional sit-down between Natalia and adoptive father Michael Barnett” as they met face-to-face for the first time since the shocking allegations of lies and abuse first went public. A happy ending was seemingly in the cards for Grace, who was adopted by Bishop Antwon Mans and his wife, Cynthia, who were both seen at her side throughout the season.
However, the finale revealed yet another unbelievable twist: Six months after adopting Grace, Bishop is heard telling the show’s producers, “Something ain’t right with Natalia. This girl is tweakin’. I feel like she’s the enemy of the house. And she said to us we have held her hostage.”
The Curious Case Natalia Grace: The Final Chapter will go behind the scenes of season two’s ending. ID president Jason Sarlanis previously told THR, “Natalia Speaks is one of those projects where the further we dug in, the more twists and turns we uncovered. We genuinely thought Natalia had found a happy ending with her new family, so you can imagine we were all thoroughly shocked when that call came from the Manses.”
New episodes of The Curious Case of Natalia Grace premiere on ID on Jan. 6 and 7, 2025; stream past seasons and The Final Chapter when it’s released on demand on Max and Discovery+.
