Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, a three-part documentary series airing later this month on Netflix, follows the New York Jets’ attempt to bring Rodgers back to the field after undergoing Achilles tendon surgery and missing the entire 2023 season. I don’t know how long the documentarians have been working on this series, but they announced it in September, before the season even began. I like to think the original plan was to follow Rodgers through the entire 2024 campaign.
But then they saw him play and probably thought, “Hmmm. Let’s just end it with Rodgers successfully returning to the field.” Because the fun part about the real ending is that, despite the massive talent surrounding Rodgers, the Jets are 3-9, the head coach has been fired, and Rodgers is still blaming others. He just can’t seem to accept the fact that, despite spending the last year meditating inside a rucksack RFK Jr. tossed down a well along with a handful of vitamins and an elixir made from hippo butt juice, he’s been unable to defeat Father Time. Imagine that! I guess Tom Brady’s no-red-foods diet is more effective than Rodgers’ diet of whale placenta and the husks of molting cicadas.
As I said on Bluesky, dunking on Aaron Rodgers’ doc is the universe’s Hanukkah gift to me. I cannot wait until December 17th.
