Where Can I Watch ‘Veep’?: Streaming Info, Reboot Chatter And More

The past two weeks have been quite the political whirlwind, and it seems as though people are discovering similarities in a series that first aired over a decade ago.

The beloved HBO series Veep follows Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), a female U.S. Vice President who eventually does, in fact, become president.

In the wake of President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 election on Sunday (July 21), he’s endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris — who has already begun her campaign — to take over the Democratic ticket, and the comparisons between Harris and the fictional Meyer have been dominating social media.

Veep writers called it holy shit,” one X user wrote, sharing a clip of Dreyfus’ Meyer sharing the news that the president was “not going to run for a second term” and that she was going to be running for president.

Another shared a clip spotlighting Meyer’s excitement upon learning the news, captioning the post, “Kamala right now.” Meanwhile, one fan wrote that they “will never get over the fact that we’re living through the plot of Veep in real time.” One urged those who have not yet watched the series to do so, writing, “cannot stress enough how much now is the time to start veep if you haven’t.”

Per Deadline, series creator Armando Iannucci stepped in on Monday (July 22) after a fan penned that “#Veep has already written a fictional version of this script .. “

“Kamala *inherits* the actual presidency,” the fan continued. “Then runs. The electoral college is tied. The house vote is tied. Which means the Senate has to choose the tie breaking candidate. And that ends up with … JD Vance as POTUS (Nb this is DRAMA …)”

However, according to the outlet, Iannucci quoted the post, highlighting, “Don’t forget we made all that up, though.”

Nonetheless, Iannucci praised the recent boost in viewership of the series on Wednesday, while also urging people to register to vote.

Where to stream Veep:

All seven seasons of the Emmy award-winning comedy series are now streaming on Max.

Is there a Veep reboot?

No, it doesn’t look like there is going to be a Veep reboot in the near future. In an interview with Variety published in June, Dreyfus noted that she “loved playing that role” and “loved doing that show,” but deemed the possibility of a reboot “doubtful.”
