Indiana Jones and the Great Circle recently debuted on Xbox, however, the game is yet to drop on PS5, making gaming enthusiasts wonder why the release date got delayed. While the game garners much praise from the gaming community and critics, PlayStation 5 players have been waiting to experience the game on the console.
So, let’s delve into why the PS5 release date of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle got delayed.
Why Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s PS5 release date was pushed to spring 2025?
The recent Indiana Jones game was released on December 9, 2024, on PC and Xbox. It is based on the hit action-adventure film series starring Harrison Ford.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle instantly became a favorite among gamers. However, PS5 users might have to wait a bit more, as its release date is set for Spring 2025. Matt Booty, the president of game content and studios at Microsoft, recently addressed the delay in the game’s release on PS5.
Booty told Variety, “We are very much making the [exclusivity and windowing] decisions on a game-by-game basis. And each of our studios is in a little bit of a different position. There’s also the production timeline on a game, so the decision on spacing comes there first.”
Matt Booty further asserted that they want Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to become a “great experience for our Xbox players.” Additionally, the delay in the game’s release on PS5 is more of a “production decision as it is anything else.”
Work on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was announced in 2021 under MachineGames. Its parent company, Bethesda Softworks, was acquired by Microsoft. They announced the game in January 2021 on X (formerly Twitter). Bethesda wrote, “A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio.”
