The highly anticipated film adaptation of the musical Wicked is now in theaters and conjuring up a healthy box office. While the Broadway musical adaptation is only getting started in cinemas, attention has already turned to the movie’s future home release, which will include a stunning – and wallet defying – limited edition 4K Blu-ray set that will give fans an immersive experience in the world of Wicked.
Among the many items currently available in the extensive catalog of Wicked merchandise out there, the collector’s edition boxed set is certainly one of the stand-out items, but it does not come at a popular price. Set for release on March 31, 2025, it includes the expected 2-disc release of the movie, and will feature both the theatrical release of the movie and its sing-along version that is playing at some special screenings. While an exact list of the extras has not been announced yet, fans can expect the usual mix of exclusive behind-the-scenes content, cast interviews, bloopers, and more featurettes.
In addition to this, the set, which comes housed in an extravagantly velvet-lined collector’s box, fans will get a numbered certificate of authenticity, and two golden bookends depicting the hat of Elphaba and the crown of Glinda – at least we know where the supersized price comes from. For those who are wondering, the pre-order item will set you back a hefty $239.99. However, fans don’t need to worry as regular two-disc editions will also be available for $39.99.
If the shiny bookends are not enough to entice you into shelling out for the Blu-ray set, then perhaps Funkos are your thing, and the collectible range is also going all out on the Wicked front. There are naturally several Funkos available based on Ariana Grande’s Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, but for those who want a little more Ozian magic, then the Funko Pop Town range allows you to bring home both the green-skinned witch and a recreation of the Emerald City as well. This set is available to buy from usual Funko suppliers for $34.99.
Fans are just beginning their journey to Oz in cinemas, with Wicked Part 1 now playing and expecting to deliver an opening weekend haul of around $165 million worldwide. This is above the original estimations, and has proven that while musical adaptations can often be a gamble on the big screen, fears that Wicked could become a new Cats have proved to be completely unfounded.

Director Jon M. Chu sheds some light on what fans can expect in the sequel.
With Part 2 of Wicked not releasing until the end of next year, there will be plenty of time for fans to savor the film in theaters, on physical media, and on streaming before they venture into the second half of the story in 2025. For now, Wicked has easily seen off the challenge of Roman epic Gladiator II at the box office this weekend, but will face a much bigger contender next week as Disney brings Moana 2 to cinemas on a wave of mostly positive early reviews.
