Will Ferrell’s most recent film is the heartwarming “Will & Harper.” That documentary showcased a new side to Ferrell and has been generally well-received by critics and audiences. But that doesn’t mean Ferrell is stepping out of broad comedy. No, sir. In fact, he just signed on to a new comedy film, “Judgment Day,” with veteran filmmaker Nicholas Stoller.

According to Deadline, Will Ferrell is set to star in “Judgment Day,” a new comedy from filmmaker Nicholas Stoller. The film is said to follow the story of a young convict who leaves prison and proceeds to take a reality TV courtroom hostage because he blames the reality TV judge for his current situation. Ferrell is set to play the megalomaniac judge in the film.
This isn’t the first time that Stoller and Ferrell have teamed up. The duo have an upcoming film that is expected to arrive in January, titled “You’re Cordially Invited.” In addition to “Will & Harper,” Ferrell has shown up in a variety of recent projects including “Despicable Me 4,” “Barbie,” “Strays,” and “Quiz Lady.”

Stoller is probably best known for films such as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Get Him to the Greek,” both “Neighbors” films, and “Bros.”
It’s unclear when we might see “Judgment Day” arrive in theaters or streaming. The film is still in the early stages of development.
