Woman killed as tree falls on cabin at Moama, near NSW-Victorian border

The body of a 63-year-old woman was found in the “wreckage” of a cabin crushed by a tree near the Victorian border on Monday morning, NSW Police said.

Emergency services were called to the cabin on Merool Rd in Moama, 225km west of Albury, about 3.50am.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

A 63-year-old man also sustained hand injuries and was taken to Echuca Hospital for treatment.

The death comes as damaging winds lash the state, and residents are urged to brace for wind gusts up to 120km/h on Monday afternoon.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
