A cat owner left her kittens alone for five minutes and returned to utter chaos, leaving the internet in hysterics.
In a now-viral video, one cat owner (@theeclipsekittes), who had fed her felines five minutes earlier, returned to what can only be described as total kitten mayhem.
The hilarious moment, captured on camera, has garnered a staggering 1.7 million likes and 17.5 million views on TikTok.
The video opens with a “POV” (point of view) caption reading: “POV: It’s been 5 minutes since they last ate,” perfectly setting the tone for the kitten chaos that’s about to unfold.
As the cat mom opens the door to her kitchen, a small army of her fur babies races toward her, meowing, pawing, and demanding attention with the kind of urgency you’d expect from animals that haven’t eaten in days, though it had only been five minutes.
“Five whole minutes, are you kidding me?” she added as a playful caption, highlighting the dramatic nature of her very hungry kittens.
Why Are Kittens So Hungry All the Time?
Kitten owners can know all too well that their little ones seem to be hungry all the time.
According to pet-care site Catster, this insatiable appetite can be explained by their rapid growth.
Kittens experience a tremendous amount of physical development during their early months, which means their bodies need a lot of fuel.
Growing from tiny newborns into adult cats is hard work, and their big appetites reflect their need for nutrients to support their energy levels and muscle growth.
How Often Should You Feed Kittens?
While it might seem like kittens are perpetually hungry, there’s a method to keeping them well-fed without overfeeding.
According to PetMD, kittens need to be fed frequently, but in small portions.
In their first few months of life, feeding them three times a day ensures they get the right balance of nutrients to support their development. As they grow older, you can transition to less frequent feeding.
Internet Users Share the Laughter
The kitten chaos had commenters in stitches. One viewer hilariously compared the meowing to an annoying nighttime pest, saying: “They sound like mosquitoes near my ear when I’m trying to sleep.”
Another, Camilla, marveled at how they took turns to “come and yell” at their owner, while a user named Gabriel quipped, “They are starving! How dare you not feed them every two minutes?!”
