WWE Faces Backlash After Trying To Sell Fan-Made CM Punk Friendship Bracelet

Usually, professional wrestling storylines follow a wrestler’s pursuit of a title: a golden championship belt that says they are the best in the business and deserve respect.

Meanwhile, two of the most popular superstars in WWE, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, are fighting over a friendship bracelet.

And it’s the best feud in wrestling.

Mcintyre and Punk have put so much emotional weight on an elastic band covered in beads that it has fans believing that a friendship bracelet is worth nearly killing a man over.

Recently, WWE decided to capitalize on the feud by selling copies of the bracelet as merchandise.

“CM Punk keeps a reminder of his love for his wife and furry, four-legged family member, Larry, in the form of a Friendship Bracelet,” the item description read. “Take a trinket that reminds you of your loved ones where you go like The Second City Saint does by making this CM Punk Friendship Bracelet yours.”

Unfortunately, they did not tell or pay tribute to Victoria, the fan who made the bracelet for CM Punk, who said that “a heads up would have been nice, lol.”

The bracelet in question has beads with CM Punk’s colors and the names of his dog and wife, Larry and AJ (former WWE Superstar AJ Lee.)

“It was just supposed to be a gift for Punk, not the whole world,” she said in a follow up post before noting that she had no bad blood with WWE.

Other fans came out in support of Victoria, saying that she should be compensated for making the original bracelet in the first place, especially since it has been such a major part of the storyline. However, she explained in another post that she simply wanted acknowledgement.

“Hi everyone – thanks again for all the nice words and support,” Victoria said. “I won’t be asking for compensation from WWE since they have every right to make bracelets. All I kind of was hoping for was maybe a mention in the description of the product.”

Victoria elaborated that she never wanted any compensation and that legally, they didn’t have to. However, if they did speak to her, she would have recommended changing “Larry” and “AJ” to “CM Punk” to make it more marketable.

Victoria also mentioned that WWE had reached out to her a week ago as a thank you from CM Punk and invited her to a show, but they never said it had anything to do with selling the bracelets.

Other fans reached out to Victoria, commending her for how she handled the situation and

After receiving backlash from fans over a lack of credit, WWE has quietly pulled the item from its online store.

Still, this event has continued to contribute to the Punk-McIntyre feud, with McIntyre reposting a previous comment, saying, “All this b—-ing and moaning and crying, no wonder CM Punk is your hero.”

Naturally, Victoria had the perfect comeback.

“All my b—-ing and moaning and crying, and still not as much whining as you’ve done. You’re twice my age and acting half it.”

The storyline will likely find its conclusion when Drew McIntyre and CM Punk face off for the third time at Bad Blood 2024 in a Hell in a Cell match on Oct. 5, 2024.
