Ever since Tom Holland took over Spider-Man for Captain America: Civil War, the web-slinger has become a major player in the MCU — as a widely-beloved character and a top earner at the box office. Holland has reprised the role five times since, and the studio also added Shameik Moore’s voice as Miles Morales’ version of the arachnid vigilante in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Additionally, Mad Men actor Hudson Thames lent his voice for Peter Parker’s appearances in the animated series What If…?
Despite the high volume of Spidey content Marvel has produced over the last decade, audiences still can’t get enough. Luckily, there’s plenty more to look forward to. While the fourth Spider-Man film is currently in production and set for a July 2026 premiere, fans will soon get to watch another installment in the franchise featuring the iconic crime fighter. Marvel Animation will release Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+ Jan. 29, 2025. Here’s all the latest updates on the upcoming animated series, including episode count, the cast and crew, and what we know so far about its plot.

How Many Episodes Are There in ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’?
In the past, most MCU shows, both animated and live-action, have included nine or fewer episodes. However, the studio’s animation team is reaching a series record that only the recent X-Men ’97 show has been able to do (excluding Loki and What If…? which spanned multiple seasons). Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is confirmed to include 10 episodes. Additionally, fans should be thrilled to know they can anticipate even more episodes to come; a second season is already in development.

Easter Eggs, References, and Other Small Details in Marvel’s ‘What If…?’ Season 3
‘What If…?’s final season featured references to The Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, and the larger history of both the MCU and Marvel Comics.
The Cast & Crew
Fans can rest assured that the latest Marvel show boasts a skilled crew behind it. Seasoned animated-series writer and producer Jeff Trammell, known for the successful Craig of the Creek, is the show’s head writer. Alongside Supervising Director Mel Zwyer, established Marvel pros Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt are Executive Producers.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will also feature an impressive cast. What If…? star, Hudson Thames, will return to voice the titular wall-crawler. Additionally, award-winning actor Colman Domingo will take on the role of Norman Osborn, along with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their respective Daredevil and Kingpin roles ahead of the live-action series Daredevil: Born Again, which is scheduled to premiere March 4, 2025. Acclaimed voice actor Kari Wahlgren has also been cast as Aunt May, David Copperfield’s Hugh Dancy will take on Doc Ock, and Paul F. Tompkins is voicing Marvel Comics villain The Wizard.
Some other characters to look out for are Dr. Stephen Strange, Amadeus Cho, Jeanne Foucault, Chameleon, Scorpion, Rhino, Tarantula, Speed Demon, Carmela Black, Unicorn, Tony Stark, Curt Conners, Venom, and White Rabbit. Although there hasn’t been any word about who’s been cast in these roles, showrunners have confirmed their involvement.

Which Marvel character will Chris Evans be playing in Avengers: Doomsday?
Reported exclusively from The Wrap and setting the internet ablaze, actor Chris Evans is set to return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday. While this is fantastic news for old school fans of the comic book big screen world – it also raises the question (since it was not answered in the original article): who will the actor actually portray? Will he somehow be Steve Rogers – age reversed and all? Will Evans be some sort of multiversal hero (perhaps Johnny Storm from another timeline)? Or perhaps just like Downey, an evil variant of Captain America? What do you think? Tell me in the comments below! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
The Series Brings Peter Parker Back to School (Again)
Even though Marvel Comics set Peter Parker in high school for a measly three years throughout his 61 years in print, filmmakers keep bringing audiences back. While some are tired of the repeat and recast origin story, Spider-Man’s double-life as a student provides endless ways to learn about choices and consequences at an age when mistakes are expected — a relatable aspect of becoming an adult. And it looks like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will also play into the web-slinger’s younger, educational years.
The series will revisit Spider-Man’s adolescent days at Midtown High and his evolution into the superhero we’ve all come to love. So, what’s the twist? This version of Parker will be set in an alternate reality in which Norman Osborn (AKA Green Goblin) is his mentor instead of the MCU’s Tony Stark. Hopefully, the change will provide enough distinction from the super-powered coming-of-age story viewers have seen time and time again as Spidey grapples with someone he looks up to engaging in morally-questionable behavior.
Additionally, the show’s trailer teases an interesting animation style that blends modern life with Spider-Man’s comic-book roots. It has live-streaming criminals, youthful supporting characters, and a brand-new black and white suit (courtesy of Oscorp, of course). Although it doesn’t look like the series will have anything to do with the MCU canon, it’s unclear whether the showrunners will decide to eventually bring the disparate realities together, corresponding with their multiverse kick. Regardless, fans still get to enjoy their favorite playful, crime-fighting spider on the small screen in the meantime.
